Klausner's lifelong interest in photography began in junior high school, when cameras that used film were the sole medium for recording still images. Since then, he has developed his artistic skills in parallel with the advances in imaging technology.
After college Klausner spent two decades creating his own acclaimed hand-drawn animated short films. Along the way, Klausner attended the Graduate Art Program at U.C. Davis and was an adjunct instructor at the CA College of Arts & Crafts. This was followed by a fourteen year stint as a senior digital artist at George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic, where he did digital visual effects on blockbuster Hollywood movies. Post ILM, Klausner founded pixlfixl.com, an online company that digitally restored old family photos.
Most recently, Klausner has exclusively devoted his energies to creating his own artwork.
His current series of stills, "LOST & FOUND" uses discarded family photos as a starting point. These photos are unearthed at flea markets and brought back to his studio where Klausner; digitizes, restores, crops, adjusts tonal relationships, filters, introduces color and considerably enlarges them onto pigment-printed matte canvases.
The desire is to breathe new life into these formerly cherished photos, and transform them in such ways so that they can once again whisper new secrets into the future.
